Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." - Matthew 19:14 (NIV). What an exciting age and such sweet and adorable children! We have about 30 on roll and we average about 15 children in the 4 & 5 year old class. Our goal is for the children to become familiar with the stories of Jesus, giving them a foundation from which to base their understanding and trust of Jesus upon! Each Sunday, we teach about the Bible - which will go with them through the years to come. Through our music time, we pray to pass on a love of music as a foundation for praise! We love visitors; please feel free to join us any Sunday! The children make new friends feel welcome and everyone has an opportunity to be involved in the lesson! The 4 & 5 years old are dismissed after Sunday School to parents for "Big Church". After the Children’s Sermon in the sanctuary, they are led back into this classroom for "Children’s Church." This enables the children to become familiar with "Big Church", while recognizing their need for more active learning.
9:45 a.m. Welcome and "Readiness" Activity: Supporting the Bible Story and children’s enthusiasm for creating, we begin with a "readiness" activity, such as coloring, completing a picture search, a craft project, and/or performing a finger-play.

10:00 a.m. Music Time: Mrs. Louise Adams and Mrs. Mildred Palmer share their personal love of music with us all! The children, naturally, love the action songs best! Many of the songs are passed down through the ages. Do you recognize any?

  • Climb Up Sunshine Mountain
  • I’ve Got the JOY-JOY-JOY
  • Jesus Loves the Little Children
  • Fishers of Men
  • Love Lifted Me & John 3:16
  • Jesus Loves Me
  • The B-I-B-L-E
  • I’m in the Lord’s Army
  • Come Into My Heart Lord Jesus
  • I Am So Glad That Jesus Loves Me
  • I Love Thee My Lord.
10:15 a.m. Bible Story: Each week we learn a new Bible Story, about the people of the Bible, while highlighting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Our stories illustrate Jesus’ love and greatness, how he shows His love for us and how we, as followers of Jesus show our love for Him and can love and help one another! We learn Bible verses, about the Bible, begin learning the Books of the Bible, and learn more about love, faith, hope, joy, and peace.

10:40 a.m. Prayer: The children are encouraged to share prayer concerns and praises for our closing prayer, showing compassion for each other, family and friends.

10:45 a.m. Dismissal.

As teachers, we are blessed each week and humbled by the purity of the children’s love for Christ! Thank you for bringing your children to Sunday School! Teaching the children is such a joy. This is our spiritual gift that we treasure. Giving and receiving love from each boy and girl - the blessings we receive we can not measure.

Faithfully,

Louise Adams, Billy McElreath, Mildred Palmer, Robin Bazemore, and Amy McElreath

Psalm 40:5 (NIV) - Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.
