Some 12 years ago a FBC Co-ed Sunday School Class with about 6 - 8 members was in need of a teacher. This couples class, ages late 50's to early 60's, wasn't looking for just any teacher. They were looking for a mature Christian who could provide scriptural-based teaching and real world experience to guide them through their weekly Sunday School lessons. Enter Ralph Murphy! As the class began to grow under Ralph's leadership, the name "Murphy's Gang" was later coined by Carol Walters - and it has never changed. The class presently has a membership of some 98 members, and many of them are recognized throughout the church for their willingness to serve both the church and community at large. As one class member puts it, "We are called upon to do just about anything the church needs done!".
Ralph says that the secret to the success of this class is twofold. 1) They have some sort of fellowship event once a month. 2) They participate in a mission project about once a week. They spend some $300 a month helping people or families in need. They are also very much involved in taking care of other Church members who are sick or in need of comforting.
The class has about 15 to 20 Sanctuary Choir members, so they meet promptly from 9:45am to 10:30am - with no assembly.
They love visitors and extend an invitation to you to join them as they study God's word and experience His will.
