Mission Friends is one of the many Wednesday Night church missions activities provided by the Womans Mission Union. Focused on children from 2 yrs through K4, it's primary objective is to teach mission attitudes and concepts to preschoolers. Mission Friends provides mission learning experiences to help children move from a self-centered focus to a focus on others, to become aware that not everyone knows of God's love, and to understand ways they can help others to come to know God's grace. At FBC, our Mission Friends have fun learning about God and missionaries, and about being friends! The Mission Friends Leaders use pictures, stories, crafts, games, and blocks to illustrate to the children how missionaries labor to spread the word of God. The children especially love creating crafts! They decorate cookies, make collages, and even build farms, cities, and other places where missionaries might travel. Another fun activity is puppet making. Many missionaries use puppets as a tool in their ministry. The children are encouraged to create great puppets that could be used by a missionary during their travels. During snack time, the children listen to adventurous stories about how God is working in their world. The children learn that God gives them wonderful things like food, trees, animals, and of course each other!. The children are encouraged to thank God for all that he gives them. One of the highlights of this ministry is their support for a local Children's Home. These Missions Friends really enjoy making Christmas stockings, Easter baskets, and other crafts for other children who are in need.
